The short answer
A Meydan Free Zone company needs audited financial statements if it is a Qualifying Free Zone Person, whatever its revenue, or if its revenue exceeds AED 50 million in the tax period. The statements must follow IFRS. For tax periods from 1 January 2025 the rule sits in Ministerial Decision No. 84 of 2025.
When is an audit required in Meydan?
When the company is a Qualifying Free Zone Person, regardless of revenue, or has revenue above AED 50 million, under Ministerial Decision No. 84 of 2025 for tax periods starting on or after 1 January 2025 (Meydan Free Zone Authority). Statements must be prepared under IFRS.
Do Meydan companies also report to the zone?
Meydan's own regulations require companies to keep proper accounts, and the authority can ask for financial statements. We confirm the current zone filing expectations at the start of each engagement and file the audited statements with the corporate tax return, which is due nine months after the year end.
Before appointing any auditor, ask for proof that the firm is on the current Meydan FZ approved list: a report signed by a firm that is not listed will be rejected at upload.
What do QFZPs in Meydan need to watch?
The split between qualifying and non-qualifying income. Non-qualifying revenue above the de minimis limit costs the company its 0% status for five years. Our audit tests the split so the tax return rests on audited figures (Ministerial Decision No. 82 of 2023).
